Some stuff could use some improvement, such as the use of beef that isn't thinly sliced in the gyudon but I would say that the ramen is pretty solid and is a bit cheaper than prices in the city. They also serve alcohol now.

So now that we've eaten here a half dozen times the honeymoon is over but I can still confidently rate this place a strong 4-4.5. I give it an extra half star for being a few blocks from home for take out and plan to order out weekly. The ramen is good and really the star of the show. It is great that you can pick from one of three different types of ramen noodles (straight, wavy, thick)

This place is ok. I have had better ramen in the city but this place will hit the spot. The broth is SO SALTY. Half way through I stopped drinking broth and just ate the ramen. Even the egg was so salty. The pork slices were good though. Potato croquette was good too.

The Tamashii Raman was the best. Wasn't a big fan of the Shrimp teriyaki, it was a bit too salty.

Came in with a bunch of friends on a weekday for lunch. Wasn't that packed and was seated promptly. They kindly arranged the tables because there were seven of us. If you have a big party it's probably annoying to come here because they can really only make one big table. Anyway I ordered the chasyu ramen which is just the tamashii ramen with extra chasyu. Overall I'd say its a decent value

Delicious ramen and other Japanese delectables served with efficiency and a smile! We been here twice and had a good experience each time. The miso broth is like a harmony in a bowl, each flavor complimenting the other. I could have honestly drank this broth from a cup! The noodles have just the perfect amount chew and good slurpablity.

Went here with the boyfriend for a quick bite to eat. There are no other ramen places in the area so we were excited for this spot to open. He had come right after it opened and tried the Champon (a seafood ramen). This time, the time between ordering and receiving our dishes was very quick. But, as a sprouting new business, service in general still seems slightly disorganized. Tonight we both tried the Tantamen, described on the menu as a spicy noodle soup flavored with mineral salt, and topped with ground pork, bean sprouts, scallion, onion, broccoli, bok choy, egg (not hard boiled) and menma

3.5 stars! Surprisingly Forest Hills doesn't have any other Ramen places around to give this place much competition. On a Saturday night it's pretty busy, we had about a 30min wait for a group of 6 people. I would suggest coming here if you have smaller parties for 2 or 4 people. They don't have tables for 6 and that's why we had to wait so long for a group of close tables to leave so they could put them together. There are also bar height tables available, but only for parties of 2.

This place can get pretty busy on nights and weekends so brace yourself for a wait. The place seems understaffed and I notice it takes a while for tables to get served. It's also hard to grab the attention of workers since they're almost always, quite literally, running around

Finally! I have been waiting for the day for good ramen to come to my neighborhood (I've been waiting for 5 years!) and the day has finally come. I came yesterday evening with two girlfriends and we all got the same thing - the signature Tamashii Ramen. Delish!! A generous amount of ramen, beautifully done hard boiled egg, and the broth was perfect. It didn't leave me deathly thirsty as too much MSG sometimes will do. We also tried the Toboyaki for apps and that was spot on as well.

Swung by to the newly opened Tamashii Red hoping for a better experience than their LIC location called Tamashii Blue. Through my latest experience I've discovered something about myself. I do not like ramen in chicken broth. Tamashii seems to serve their ramen only in chicken broth. I am not a fan of it. Although I've enjoyed Toto's ramen years back (which is also chicken broth based ramen) I just can't find myself enjoying any of Tamashii'

I didn't think the ramen was bad. It was pretty standard. My friend got a eel bowl but only to find it was all rice and half a palm of eel. Very sad. Don't go there for anything else other than ramen.

I had waited until the Forest Hills crowds the first few weeks had died down. We had been to Tamashii's outpost in Astoria a couple of times and really enjoyed it. I wanted to compare the Forest Hills location to the one in Astoria. I had ordered the Kara Miso (spicy) Ramen in both locations both tasted identical. The interiors of both restaurants are almost identical. Rows of tables along both sides of the space, with benches along the wall and backless stools on the aisle side of the tables

Was very inattentive and didn't seem to care that there was tiny broken pieces of clam shells in my broth. The clams were not cleaned nor handled properly. Overall didn't even care when I called and told my waitress. Would not recommend seafood related ramen from here. Spoke with the waitress again and she supposedly spoke with the chef who didn't care

Bad broth. The first time I tried Tamashi the entire soup tasted "off". I thought maybe it was because they use chicken broth instead of pork. This past visit I tried the pork-based spicy miso broth. Still tasted disgusting. The pork buns should be succulent, melt in your mouth pork belly. Instead they are simply two slices of the chasyu from the soup and too-little sauce. Very disappointing

Ramen!? Yes!? The ramen was okay, broth seemed to lack that extra oomph that would compel to make me come back. The pork slices were actually cold. Dessert of red bean ice cream was only odd in that the 3 scoops seemed to be scooped in graduated sizes. Service was odd only because although there were 4 tables available near entrance, they attempted to seat us way back near the narrow hallway leading to bathroom? There was a japanese curtain in front of what I assume was the bathroom. Another couple refused their table when they were brought to table behind us

Very average food. Ordered: Crab/Kani Salad Ramen Katsu Bowl Eel Rice Bowl Tofu Appetizer Squid Balls Ramen noodles was not good (I didnt enjoy their brand of noodles). My friend ordered it & gave me some to try. I took a bite and that was it.

Absolutely AMAZING FOOD and service! I've been here about four times, and so far every dish I ordered was tasty. My favorite from Tamashi is Hiyashi Chuka, the cold noodle ramen; it's a great choice when you are craving for something cold for the hot weather. For the days when it's cool, I totally recommend their Champon. It has a lot of seafood and the SOUP... IT TASTE SO GOOD... honestly it's kind of spicy but still it's just irresistable

We live in the area and have walked by this place a number of times but never really saw anything on the menu that got my attention. We finally tried it on a Sunday afternoon. There wasn't a wait and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The decor was nice and prices were very affordable

Came to this cozy restaurant for a quick Monday lunch, and I could not speak more highly about my experience here. The service staff were very welcoming, even the busboys that were on staff said hello! We got seated right away, and the waiters helped us take our order right away. They were very helpful with choosing the right menu item.

I came here yesterday with a group of my friends, and I have to say the food was delicious. I had the classic tamashii ramen and it tasted very fresh flavorful. The service was also exceptional. The waiters were as kind as any, and they were always there when needed.

I came here on a Saturday night with my friends and it was packed! Luckily, the wait wasn't as long as I expected it! The service was great too. We had the Unagi-don, Agedashi Tofu, Tamashii Ramen and Veggie Shio Ramen. Usually I don't eat japanese ramen because it's too rich and heavy for my liking but the Tamashii ramen really hit the spot.

People that work here are so nice that I for once feel bad for giving such a low rating. But, guys, I'm sorry - The food here is so bad. Their kara-age (fried chicken) at $8 is soggy and they give such a small portion. The dipping sauce that goes with it tastes like generic italian dressing when it should be a japanese mayo of some sort.

Three cheers for real Asian food coming to Forest hills and America! Along with spy c, Xin taste, and memories of Shanghai, Austin st is now building up some pretty serious authentic Asian restaurants. No more japanese mall teriyaki type places and Chinese take out. This place makes pretty great ramen and the interior/exterior design is excellent

After taking in a movie 'Crazy Rich Asians' at the nearby multiplex, I was craving some dumplings or gyoza and decided to try this place. There was no wait, which is always a plus, especially since the place was kind of full. The prices are standard and reasonable. My friend ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki and I ordered the spicy miso ramen. We shared an order of shrimp gyoza to start.
