Service is soooo bad here. So why 4 stars? Their pho is sooo good! I remember watching a youtube video or maybe it was a movie, a vietnamese woman saying you would know if its authentic vietnamese food if the servers/waiters are rude af and mentioned something funny about the bathroom thats also a closet or amazing funny like that, i not remember.

Great place! Some of the best Vietnamese food I've had stateside. I spent a fair bit of time in Vietnam and this is as close as I have found to the real deal in the USA. It is small and crowded, and the service is not chiefly friendly, however, the waitstaff is efficient, and the food is delivered quickly. The place is clean, and this includes the restroom, which for me is always a sign of overall hygiene.

I totally love this place! I've been coming here for years. The food has always been great, and the prices can't be beat. You really get an authentic Vietnamese meal here, with their well known pho starting at $6/per bowl per person. The spring rolls are marvelous, and it's fun to eat it "Vietnamese style", rolled in a lettuce leaf and dipped in a tasty carrot and ginger sauce. The service here is also quick, so expect to wait less than 10 minutes for a bowl of pho. This place is also family friendly, so don't hesitate about bringing the little ones in for a warm and reasonably priced meal.

This is my favorite soup spot. They make the best pho for more than sensible $$$, the food is good but the venue and gear could use a fresh coat of paint.

After a few months of not going to Pho Bac my bf and I determined to give it another chance as I wasn't feeling well and needed some pho in my life. Upon sitting down we noticed that the wet rag, stinky sock smell wasn't as prominent as it usually is, it's still there but more of just a linger than overpowering. The place itself was brighter and somehow looked a bit more inviting. The man taking our order didn't look grumpy as per usual and was quick to give us tea without us having to ask for it. He also brought us water and the pho came out quickly

Authentic flavors at very sensible prices. Pho Bang next door is closed for renovation, so this place seems to be upping their game

Authentic flavors at very sensible prices. Pho Bang next door is closed for renovation, so this place seems to be upping their game. This place is very popular with Filipinos! Update: Food quality slipping a little, but still delivers the fix. Don't mind the divey surroundings, but don't mind if the tables were cleaner. Bathroom is icky!!

The pho is unbelievable and the portion are very fair. I got the XL and it was honestly huge. The banh mi was ok but not bad for the price

My family and I recurrent here often. The food is good, the staff is terrible. I think specific people in the front do specific things. *STORY TIME* After our meal was done, we for all time order avocado shakes to go. We had asked a man (older gentleman) to get 2 avo shakes to go. He wrote it down and said "ok". Five minutes pass by and my sister had asked about the status. He said, and I quote "the lady isn't here to make it". OK. So you're telling me that YOU can't make a freaking avocado shake without a women helping you? CMON SON. It's just avo, condense milk, ice, blend, cup, pour, lid. I mean, it's not as hard ...at all.

You can come in here having the organization smell like a damp mop and yet you will still grab a seat and order pho. You'll also order a side of crispy lumpia rolls just since you know they're good too. Been coming here since the 90s. Recipe's been pretty much the same, waiters come and go (except that one guy with the mustache

I love this place!!!!! Food is so good every time! My boyfriend & I always order our usual !!! Phó with meatballs and he forever order either the pork chop over rice with a fried egg or sometimes the vietnamese steak (it's for all time moist juicy & yummy) We will always be back, the most suitable thing is the parking lot!!!

My new go to place for pho. Love that they have banh mi sandwiches. Pho bang in the same complex doesnt offer that. though they are a little skimp on the protein in the sandwich. But you get what you pay for. Anyhow the food here is good and the prices are polite. The staff are a bit abrupt but thats what you get from Asians

I ordered the rare beef and brisket Large pho. They are very kind with the meat portion. This is the first time that I've finished my bowl without a chunk of noodles left at the bottom. The taste was pretty standard. No complaint about it. I took off 1-2 stars because the place smelled like a wet sock. It made it uneasy to eat with such a stench. I thought it was because of the rain, but I also tried their soup and although the flavor was alright, it smelled like bacteria. The urinal fresheners also need substitute. It looks like it hasn't been changed in a decade

This is where I go with my brother. We order in Vietnamese. We get several dishes to take home. It's a taste of growing up. You're not going to get white glove service, but if you've been to as many Vietnamese restaurants as I have, you learn that's not what matters. The pho is outstanding. The portion are filling. And what's best is they know Vietnamese flavor. I feel comfort and at home when I'm here. It's busy a lot, so try and keep the party down to 4 or less.

Pho-i-null-E!! I've found GOOD pho #26 A huge bowl comes in like 2 min - FAST service. Thinly slices of beef float in the middle of a sea of soft noodles, five six thin basil leaves and some onions add subtle flavor, and the broth completes it all. Their broth isn't the best but this is the MOST WELL BALANCED PHO I've ever had. It's delicious, fast, cheap. And satisfying. Large bowl for $7.95! SLIPPERY FLOORS, BEWARE I believe this is Northern style bc of its ease and also its name, Pho Bac

I'm living in Elmhurst for the next few weeks, so trying to take advantage and eat as much as I can. My first stop was at Pho Bac. Overall, the summer rolls were tasty and the serving size of the large bowl of pho was kind and the proteins generous. But the broth was just okay. I went with the mixture bowl in large size (they have small, medium, large ,and extra-large). For $8, this was a bargain. It was larger than I expected and filled pretty full with noodles and broth. There was so much meat that it felt like every time I mixed the bowl around, I found a new treasure. The slices of beef were a bit thick and so it was quite tough. I guess I should have asked for rare beef instead

Came here on a Saturday noon-ish time. There was no wait for the table. The place was like 75% full. Lots of other Asians. The wait staff spoke Vietnamese and Chinese. Typical Viet restaurant impression. You could smell the pho in the air. It felt like home. lol My friend and I ordered goi cuon (summer rolls) for an first course, canh cua (sour soup) with catfish, ca kho to (carmelized fish) and two white rice for entrees. Drinks we ordered were che ba mau (three color dessert) and my friend got a soursop drink.

If you take sanitation serious this isn't a place for you. If you can tolerate it though and you love delicious affordable food you'll love this place. They're portions are no joke & they're food is pretty good. The pho is good and they have many variety of option so you won't run out. This place is GREAT for a college students wanting to save $$ but eat anywhere good. Price =$ overall 8

A hit or miss spot for your viet food fix. Tonight's pho was a miss. The noodles was way over cooked and should've been a bit al dente. I'll go into detail: Place - smells ..always smells. I don't know what it is but when you walk in, you'll smell some sort of stench. When it gets busy, you'll also feel cramped. Don't wait for much of decor or how clean things are. It's a viet spot. Come to eat & go. Service - it's ok to me. If they don't admit you, feel free to act a fool to get their attention. It's fine for that in this kind of organization, trust me.

I like their Pho and summer roll. Price is very cheap, the only dish I won't counsel is their fried chicken wings, it was overprice and the taste is so so. I see a few ppl complain about their customer service, but from my opinion, with $5 noodle soup and $3 spring roll you in fact can't expect outstanding service. This is just my view

I highly advise this authentic Vietnamese restaurant because of the food not the service, not the ambience and definitely not its cleanliness I have been coming here since 1991 and even with all its negative reviews, I plan to keep on ongoing eating their amazing beef noodle soups, pork chop over broken rice with crab cake and the spring rolls with its unique crunchy skin only here.

For a fast bite I always tend to end up at this hole in the wall for a Vietnamese sandwich or a small bowl of pho. Now be warned, this place has no decor appeal and sometimes there can be a funky smell but the food tends to be good and it's cheap and come out quite quick. So if you are feeling adventurous...

Man, hidden gem. Prices are wonderful. we came here twice in the week cuz our first experience was so great! The parking lot does get full, but there's good amount of parking and a lot of people aren't there for hours. The menu has so many items, you're bound to find something you like. We ordered Pho and a rice dish, both were tasty, good portioned and we loved it. It's Child friendly, offering space for strollers and also highchairs. We had a great time, my son loved the noodles, and drank a lot of the broth. Yummy! We also ordered a couple of sandwiches to go, the sandwiches were just okay.

To be truthful, i don't know why Pho Bac doesnt have the best reviews because I have to say... it's one of the better places I've been to for Pho. Granted, when you walk in there is a certain smell, but your'll get use to it. In the colder season, sometimes you're waiting out the door for the table (and people want to give it a bad review). Their pho is very good, tasteful and not to oily. As well as their spring rolls, they are actually good, and crispy. Love a good crispy spring roll I can wrap in lettuce and dip in fish oil.
