Don't really appreciate the hype around their dumplings. They are alright but pretty standard to other places in flushing. But what I really like from here is the ma la soup. You can tell them how spicy you want it. The soup has a variety of stuff in it. Highly advocate!

Call me crazy but I will travel up to 40 mins for a good bowl of hand-pulled beef noodle soup. At $5.50 a bowl, Lao Bei Fang's kindly sized hand-pulled beef noodle soup is certainly worth the trip. It's the next best thing after a flight to China. A lot of the local Chinese population come here for a quick, cheap bite - there's the stamp of genuineness. Dumplings are HUGE and while the the filling is tasty; the skin is too thick for my liking. But it's still dirt cheap, so why not spend the $2 to find out for yourself if it's up your alley? Okay so here's the thing - this place is absolutely not the cleanest establishment... I suck it up and look the other way because the food here is just worth it.

I was craving some good Chinese food, and wound up here. As I went in, I was a little anxious by the atmosphere, but as soon as I brought the food to the table, everything changed. It was downright amazing. I was shocked by the chewy newness of the noodles and dumplings. They were very filling, so you almost certainly only want to get one thing. This place is a new favorite for sure.

If you are looking for Fried Dumplings, Boiled Dumplings, Steam Dumplings- this is the place to go and they are open late too. Have not tried their pulled noodles yet. Started checking into this place lately, and had cravings for dumplings. Who can beat the price. 8 dumplings for only $3.75. Like the filling too and fills my tummy.

Hidden gem in Elmhurst, Queens. This is my preferred dumpling house since I moved in NYC. Their fried dumplings are so delicious and very cheap. All of their noodles are handmade and the cold section is good as well! The store is roomy better than their preceding location. The employees speaks good english so no need to worry about your order. The place could get crowded at times!

Wow! Its a real deal. Cheap & tasty! We spent less than $20 for a plate of dumplings & 2 bowl of huge noodles. Yummy! I got the beef stew & my friend got the beef tendon & tripe noodle. It was delicious! From the soup, meat & noodle. It was completely cooked. We didn't even finish the dumplings since the bowl of noodle is huge & filling. Delicious food, fast service & cheap! What more can you ask for?! You must come here hungry & you won't regret!

The most unique pan fried dumpling spot in all of Queens. I was born and raised in Elmhurst. Growing up this was the cheapest most delicious thing to go eat with your friends after a good long day at the park. I moved away to another city and haven't been here in about 10 years. I took a trip out for the day just for the dumplings and I swore it tasted the same as 10 years ago and still almost as cheap. $2.75 for 8 pieces can't go wrong with that. There is less and more for a dissimilar quantity. It is crispy on the exterior. Hot juicy and steamy on the inside. Filled with pork and veggies. These mouth watering dumpling are must try.

genuine chinese food!! Location Lao Bei Fang means the old northern part of China. They are cooking some real Chinese northern part cuisine. I love it. When you first step in, please dont be scared by the appearance. Yes, it seems a little bit unhygient but you will be guranteed with clean food. Food: I had their hot pot soup. Like what I had back in China. SPICY, but still tasty. Price: cheap however, cash only. Service: you have to serve physically, but the good new is that you dont have to pay tips.

What can I say about this place as well the fact that it deserves the 5 stars I rated them already..?I went with my friend 2 days ago. It was my first visit and his second visit. I went because he was there a week before and he liked their food. You walk in and behind the counter is the menu on the wall up for display. I had the sliced beef with hand made noodle and a 4 piece order of their just right dumplings (they only serve pork dumplings). Seriously, their dumplings are the best! My friend had the lamb stew soup with hand made noodle and I tasted it. Another amazing tasty dish. I couldn't believe how sensibly priced it was! $7 for the beef, $8 for the lamb and $2 for the dumplings (4 piece).

Great food. Super delicious. The dumplings are very hearty and hot can't really beat the price. The noodles are flavorful and large portioned. Only complaint is that I wish there was more meat. Again for the price can't go wrong tho. I got the beefd noodles which were OK. It's not the same kind of beef you get in a beef and broccoli. More like the kind of meat you get as a cold hors d'oeuvre which I wasn't really looking for. It was also a little tough. My friend got the stewed beef which was a a lot better than mine.

Just got to LuV this Place ... everything is as genuine as it gets. The soup bowls are huge & banging *Hand pull noodles* all day every day. Important statement there MILD Spicy is spicy enough... I made the wrong choice & ordered extra spicy, immediately the top layer of the skin on my tongue was burned off! After a gallon of sweat I gave up.... but the flavors & the softness of the fresh noodles made it all worth it. Good amount of seating, they also serve some banging dumplings & scallion pancakes yummy... self service & they charge for everything even for the container to take home, if you can't finish that giant bowl. It's all good the food here is cheap, fresh & always hits the spot.

Came on a hot questioning day for beef noodle soup, malatang, and fried dumplings. Dumplings were pretty good for the price and hand pulled noodles had good chewiness to it. However the malatang (hot & spicy soup) had actually good broth! Can't wait to come back on a cold winter day for a big bowl of malatang.

This place is absolutely about quantity for a cheap price. When I walked in, I right away felt dirty. Many tables were not cleaned and the shop just has that grimy feel. My friends and I each ordered a bowl of beef stew hand pulled noodles and we shared the pork and leek fried dumplings as well as the scallion pancakes with beef wrapped inside. The beef stew was the best thing there.

I used to come here quite often, but I'm not around the area that often anymore but when I do this is on my list of chairs to eat at. Their handpulled noodles has never failed me, but their steam dumplings has. The prices has steadily gone up but their excellence has remained the same. I also like that you can request less salt and oil for the stiry fry. I'm sure they'd request more oil and salt too if that's your favorite. The guy pulling the noodles let me record a clip of him doing his thing and I was able to figure out how to record it in slow-mo with my new phone. Check it out if you're bored and love handpulled noodles

I live in the area and have been to bulk of the restaurants around here. Never expect to see that fancy and comfortable looking interior in most places, but do expect the best bang for your buck when it comes to the food. luckily, this restaurant is one of them. You want dumplings? You're in the right place. You want soup/noodled? You're in the right place. The food is cheap but tastes good AND fills you up! This is my go to place when I'm starving late night

Ah yes, nothing like seeing prices that make you feel like you're back in the eutopian-ish early-90's when you got a lot for a dollah! This place is right on the corner (across the street/in front of "Quickly") and as soon as you walk in you're greeted by the sound of Cantonese speaking patrons, workers and a diverse group of dumpling and soup loving folks. I couldn't resist adding a medium-spicy shrimp soup (add Enoki mushrooms please!) and I was beyond agreeably surprised with the plethora of ingredients! Each bite produced something new from broccoli to lotus root, mushrooms, tofu, seaweed, snow peas, mystery starch and more but the shrimp were perfectly cooked and tasty and the broth was certainly a perfect "medium-spicy

Been here a few times. It's a dive, but not in a bad way. Great bang for the buck. Chow bing (stir fried pancake noodles with veggies) was one of the best we've had. Beef noodle soup and hot and spicy soup (mala tang) were both great. Dumplings were average but not bad. Order at the counter and clean up after yourself. Our table needed wiping is my only grievance. They were very busy. They do a lot of takeout. Handful of tables, can get packed rapidly.

I've really been here multiple times. Their hot and spicy veggie soup is really good and lives up to the name! My go to place in the area if you want soup particularly during the winter. Oh btw...it's only $6! They're also known for their pulled and knife noodles which are also really gooood!

Lao Bei Fang (老北方) is somewhat of a puzzle in a Chinese sense because it's neither really Bei Fang (Northern) or Lao (Old). However, it is well-liked and one of the more dependable noodle / dumpling spots in Elmhurst, a hood where specialty Chinese spots don't typically thrive in more than say a Flushing or Brooklyn Chinatown. Their new digs have brought a friendlier crowd in the door and they're still hand pulling the noodles in person for the camera toting Instafood-fans. The charming, yet divey digs that Lao Bei Fang was known for are now a thing of the past. The new interior as of the last year is way more modern and inviting, with ample seating and a more modern setup with open display to the kitchen (important for the hand pulling) and no shortage of Chinese streamer as if it were the Lunar New Year every day. Hell, a lot of their menu and signage is in English now. #wemadeit

I'm not going to write them a Lao-sy review when their soup is so good, and such a huge kind portion. I like Jando's review... it's neither Lao or Bei Fang (lololololol). He's funny without even meaning to be. He's also cute. Hi Jando. Lao is really cheap, really friendly, and on the advice of Yelp, I got the soup from here. It was delicious, and as big as my hand. My hand is pretty big you know. It has to be, for when I am satisfying the title of that Pink song tonight.

A low-key noodle place in such a lively part of Elmhurst! I've been on the search for a cheap but tasty noodle joint for the longest time and lastly found one! I came to this place on a weekend and the place was pretty packed but luckily we found a table. After you order what you want, you wait for your number to be called. Then you grab the food yourself and pick a table to eat at. The noodles I got were absolutely delicious! Full of flavor and large in portion. We also ordered dumplings and grabbed some of the vegetable side dishes (ready-made). Each dish averages $5-$6. Some cons: badly maintained tables.

Number 64 spicy without spam. One Diet Coke. Hand over the $10. Take a seat, wait for the steaming bowl of beef and noodles. Ask for extra napkins because I get runny nose and don't want to salt the broth more than it in fact is. Finish everything. Throw away the soup in their special trash that stinks to the high heavens but is useful in the way that the Chinese have perfected over the years of being in the area. Respect the recycling bin. Saunter out into the cold, but still warm due to the heat & spice.

I enjoy the food here because it's reasonably priced and fills you up very well. I've had a variety of the dumplings that have never been a dissatisfaction. I've also had the noodles that hit the spot especially during those cold days. The staff are always helpful and there is at least one person who will assist you if you need help with the menu in English. It gets busy around lunch time but the lines move rapidly.
