Would i call this a purpose food place. Hellz yeah. I've traveled from Manhattan just to get the banh mi's here. Out of all the banh mi's in the tri state area I have to say JoJu is absolutely the best. Always go for the typical, #9 Monster, lemongrass chicken, or the pork. Can't go wrong with any of them. Super flavorful, nice pickled carrots and daikon, great sandwich sauce, and crisp fresh cucumbers. Try it with a sunny side egg cooked to your liking (runny, medium, well done). With a yelp check in you can even get a free egg adding Mon. - Fri. The sandwiches are so good that they are even better the day after absorbing all the sauce and flavors. Huge portions, half a sandwich would suffice for a meal and the other half left for another meal. The bread is great with its crunchy external and soft interior to absorb all the flavors. Also the iced Vietnamese ice coffee will satisfy anyone's thirst and keep anyone alert.

I don't understand why I've never been to this place before. Like gravely why?! Lol. I check this spot on yelp before going & was really amazed with all those good reviews. So exciting! So, I went with my bf & brother today for a quick lunch. We got the: Kimchi fries-- fries topped with egg, spicy mayo, kimchi & cilantro. Its tasty! The sauce taste so perfect with the fries. I didn't even imagine a kimchi will taste so good with a fries. A must try!! Kakuni pork belly-- japanese slow braised pork belly with cucumber & carrots. It has a sauce too thats very tasty & perfect for the sandwich. Bread is crispy! The joju-- vietnamese ham, headchese, bbq pork & spread. This what I got. A must try too! Each ingredients has its own taste that makes all taste really good. Bread is crispy! They take their sandwich seriously. Its mouthwatering.

Fantastic modern banh mi. It's not Baoguette but its a close cousin. It's also really reasonably priced (5 bucks on average). Seating is almost non existent but it shouldn't dishearten you from going. Best banh mi in Queens. Go for the fried egg add on for a buck. Highly recommended.

Same great JoJu flavors but in a bowl! If you've been a fan of JoJu like I have been for years, this is a great evolution for this restaurant. This is basically the same menu of meats, on top of rice or cabbage slaw, with all the toppings and usual sauce goodies at your discretion. One can add egg or spring rolls to the bowl for a few additional bucks and they're well worth it. As always, the food is fresh, well made at incredibly reasonable prices. The lemongrass chicken is flavorful and juicy. BBQ pork is tender and yummy. The place is a bit cramped and the lunch rush is always a challenge but well worth it if you're in the area.

I've eaten here a few times and every time has been actually good! I typically get the soy ginger option but I've also had the chicken which was just as good! Be sure to add some onsen tamago to your order!!! I like their Thai iced tea as well but not so much their Vietnamese iced coffee. Service is really good too. They always ask if you're fine with peanuts so you don't die in their organization or something.

My friend got us food from here. It's in the underground room of Joju a great Banh mi place. I got the pork belly over rice. Love it! The pork belly is very well experienced and the sauce is perfect. It might be better if it was hot but we got take out so it was lukewarm when we got it. The downside is parking here is awful and the space is tiny.

Nom! Nom! Nom! JoJu's Banh Mi is truly amazing! My favorite Vietnamese Sandwich Place EVER~! My favorite is the #4 Beef Bulgogi. This is a very creative sandwich cross of Vietnamese sandwich and Korean meat. The Beef Bulgogi is cooked well to still be loving put together with kimchi! When you bite into it, you can taste the juice just filling up in your mouth... truly, truly astonishing! I order the same sandwich a few times and it's never, never dry! Another sandwich I tried was the #3 BBQ Pork. It is a sausage-looking link split into two. It is definitely not an ordinary sausage-looking link! The meat is not hard or dry and it has a deep flavor or barbecue.

JoJu Bowl! Sister store of the notorious JoJu Banh Mi, the bowls are located just right downstairs! JoJu Bowls all come with your choice of their Banh Mi meat that we all know such as the Caramel Pork, Lemongrass Chicken, Pork Belly, Beef Bulgogi, and etc. Think of this as Banh Mi in a bowl! I sneaked in today after work. No line! I got the Lemongrass Chicken bowl with Jasmine White Rice and Spicy Green sauce on the side. I also added the Fried Pork Rolls, best choice ever! Each bowl also comes with sliced cucumbers, daikon, onions, kimchi, peanuts, and cilantro. Make sure you toss all together! My favorite part of the bowl was the Jasmine rice and the tender chicken. This was a light snack for me, though!

JoJu Bowl is the perfect fast-casual lunch or dinner spot. I have eaten here a couple of times and I have always left satisfied. Imagine a deconstructed banh mi sandwich, but sub out the bread for white or brown rice and you have yourself a tasty JoJu Bowl! The service and staff is very well-organized and each bowl is made to order. You can sit at the counter overlook the service line to watch them prepare your order. They also offer a check-in individual for a free Japanese soft-boiled egg. I often add the spring rolls for that extra crunch factor and don't forget the fish sauce that you can ask for as a side when you pick-up your completed bowl. The fish sauce (nuoc cham) is the perfect sweet and salty vinaigrette to pour all over your bowl.

I had my first Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwich here, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to knowledge it. I ordered the Grilled Pork Chop Banh Mi. It tasted very alike to "Vietnamese Grilled Pork Chop over Broken Rice". The pork wasn't as flavorful or crispy as that dish but with the pickled vegetables, fish sauce, and cucumbers it was very similar. I added an egg on top. The combination of the runny yolk and the inside of the sandwich is just delicious. I also ordered the Mango Lychee Tea with Passionfruit Jelly. Very sweet and refreshing. Definitely get the jellies over tapioca. They're not chewy and kind of firm and silky instead. I find as whole their easier to drink with the tea as you don't have to spend as long chewing them.

After inquiry about the new JoJu Bowl, I was dragged here two days after their soft opening. I shared a bowl of the Kakuni pork on brown rice. We also added the BBQ pork as the double meat, two onsen eggs, and the fried pork spring rolls. If you add all the toppings like the egg, spring rolls, and extra meat it gets quite luxurious. Our bowl was about $18. We did add two extra eggs, so it would have been $16 without it. Pros: The bowl comes topped with some customary and some not so traditional toppings of a banh mi: pickled carrots and daikon, pickled onions, cucumbers, cilantro, peanuts, kimchi, and fried shallots. The bowls are actually large, specially if you get the special toppings and double meat. You'll be stuffed after eating one by yourself. For the meat, get the Kakuni pork. The pork belly was slightly sweet, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and had lots of flavor. The brown rice had good texture and was even better with the tasty sauce on the rice. I wouldn't have minded if they had a fried egg option.

Sooo many Banh mi sandwiches to choose from. My fave is the bulgogi, wait... its the grilled pork chop, wait .. I think its the classic, cant go wrong with the typical. Well , whatever sandwich you decide to get, I am optimistic you will enjoy it. Btw Buy 5 sandwiches get a free drink!! There's quite a wait so I suggest calling your order in and picking it up later when it's ready.

Joju bowl is the rice bowl account of their sandwiches upstairs. Located heading for below the original joju, they only have rice bowls and a few drink options. So I still have to go to the original store for fries! The restarant is small, can probably seat around 10 people. I love the pork belly #6. With white rice, spicy green sauce, and an added egg. The egg is runny and totally amazing paired with the rice.

My boyfriend introduce me to Joju and I am now obsessed. Joju has THE BEST bahn mi sandwiches! The restaurant itself is small so don't be surprised if there are no seats left. Also might be a good idea to call in and see if they are out of banh mi. It happened to me once and I trekked all the way from Long Island. Luckily I was able to get the last banh mi. Too bad for the man behind me. I forever get the #3 BBQ Pork or #4 Beef Bulgogi with a RUNNY egg. The key is to get the runny egg. I don't find the medium egg as satisfying as tasting the oozing yolk all over your sandwich. I've also tried #9 Joju Monster. Nothing here disappoints. Everything is so tasty, crispy & warm. Definitely beats those bahn mi houses in the city

inquiry that Joju came out with a sister store called Joju Bowl was very exciting news! I was pretty confused when I arrived at 8:30pm though because I did not see any signs indicting that Joju Bowl was downstairs or a separate store from Joju's. I walked into Joju's asking for instructions and was instructed to go "down the stairs", which I finally understood after spinning in circles outside because there were no light down those stairs. After halfway down the stairs I lastly saw the storefront JOJU BOWL. Happy to have finally found it, I rushed inside. The cafe seating area is about half the size of Joju's. There were 2 people sitting at the high tables when I walked in.

JoJu Bowl is the rice bowl sibling of my favorite Elmhurst spot, JoJu! It's expediently located right down the stairs in the lower level of the original JoJu. I stopped by for dinner the other night and got #1, the JoJu, which is a bowl with caramel pork and BBQ pork. The caramel pork was kind of ground up into little pieces, but the BBQ pork came in slices. You can choose the base of your bowl (white rice, brown rice, or cabbage salad) and also pick optional toppings and spicy sauce. Since I was getting my food to go, I got the hot green sauce on the side. I'd always been too scared to try it in my sandwiches at the original JoJu, but to my surprise, it wasn't as spicy as I thought it'd be - basically the hot green sauce you'd find in Peruvian food.

It's kind of like pouring Joju Bahn Mi into a bowl. Not literally, but kinda. The food looks good and tastes good as well. There's good option to modify the way you like it and I'm glad to finally get to try the Joju Bowl since I've been a fan of Joju's from when they first opened.

After I heard about Joju Bowl, I've been wanting to go here. And when my friends and I decided to venture to Elmhurst, I right away suggested that we go here. If I had to choose between a sandwich or a rice bowl, I would absolutely go for the bowl. So, I'm glad that JoJu decided to open a "bowl" shop. When I got here, I had to try the signature JoJu bowl (w. bbq pork and caramel pork). I enjoyed it. I found the caramel pork to be a bit sweet (as the name implies). I for myself would not recommend to get it alone, but when mixed with the bbq pork, it definitely balances it out.

This place has actually great Vietnamese sandwich. Their sandwich has a crunch when you bite into it and the taste of the sandwich helps satisfy your cravings. Their bowls are pretty good too and I above all like their vegan beef they got there. When you have craving expectations this place delivers. Even when I'm writing this review I'm still thinking about that sandwich...

Make sure to checkin to get your free onsen tamago!! It didnt add much to the bowl overall but its a nice Yelp perk. I got the Joju Bowl. And my keyed up self forget to ask them to omit the cilantro...other than that, the bowl was filling. There were two types of meat: minced pork and sausage. Along with a bunch of cold veggies: red onion, kimchi, cucumber. absolutely a meal worth your money but I think I like the bulgogi bowl better.

It's like a chipotle but viet style! under the original Joju location this is another option of how you want to get your viet food fix. He breakdown: Location: elmhurst - especially being on Broadway, a busy busy Main Street, parking is horrible. You're better off getting dropped off or taking public transport. It's in the basement so lot of people might miss it. Inside you'll find limited seating if it gets packed during the lunch hours but I'm sure they typically do take outs. Food: I got the original and of course topped it with the rolls. It's nice to have a viet "sandwich" in a bowl form. You get to choose how to customize it too. It was tasty and I can see how it'll be on people's Rotation for food because of how quick and versatile this "bowl" can be. See photo.

Chicken lemongrass with spring rolls 7/10 : not as tasty as I thought it would be . The fish sauce did add a kick to it and made it more Vietnamese style. Spicy mayo sauce didn't help the flavor at all, not spicy at all. Chicken were lack of flavor. Spring rolls only came with 6 pieces so 2 in total; not sure if it is worth the price but it def help the bowl . The side were so little, maybe like half of scoop per sides. Def can taste the jasmine aroma from the rice, not overwhelming A+++

The caramel pork bowl is literally crack. Caramel pork with half and half-- half rice, half cabbage, with all the fillings on top and then topped off with that wonderful green hot sauce? I can eat this bowl all day long. Even as scraps straight from the fridge it's crack. For some reason, this bowl and how I order it, tastes like marshmallows. The rice with the caramel sauce!!! Now I need a Joju Bowl.

A nice small place to get a quick and filling meal. One bowl costs around $7-9, depending on what you add to it. This is almost certainly one of the best healthy concept places that puts everything in a bowl. Why? There's a lot of meat and vegetables and a great portion of rice. I didn't even get to finish it because there's so much bbq pork in it. I never expected them to give me this much... JUST COME AND TRY FOR YOURSELF! But you should put the sauce in for yourself particularly if you're not a spicy person.
