Canoeing the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn

Join the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club for a voyage along one of Brooklyn's most notorious waterways!

Tours are offered every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from April through August, departing at 7pm (with or without you) depending on weather (walking tour if it rains). The guided voyage highlights the past, present and future of the waterfront along with questions and conversation on how recreation can have a positive influence on improving and encouraging environmental awareness and activism in an urban setting.

We provide equipment but please wear light clothing, sunscreen, bring water to drink and a light jacket in case it gets cool. No experience needed but you should be healthy enough to climb a ladder. We guarantee you will leave this experience with a new and unique perspective!

Sorry - no refunds and in the event of departure without you. If rain occurs or thunder is heard, we will conduct a shoreline walking tour covering the same topics. We host 3 peope per canoe so passeneger / paddler participation will be determined at the dock. Passenger sits in the middle of a canoe and doesn't paddle.
