I enjoy this place so much during my first visit, I determined to bring my bf along today. At first....He prejudged this place like a ramen snob. ... But he ended up loving everything we ordered tonight. Esp. The ramen, and the cordato coffee(highly recommended), and his long time love. riceballs New items I tried this time were the beef teriyaki onigiri and curry heart shaped onigiri, tonkotsu ramen, and tonkotsu sandwich. And for dessert...Bought the prepackaged steamed cheese cake and the cream puff Bowl of tonkotsu ramen $8 The bone broth was on point, a little salty for my light favorite but awesome nonetheless. The slices of pork...Was melt in your mouth awesome ...Just wish there was three slices like the poster on the wall...And not just the two in my bowl :/...Still delicious tho.

Tried a few new items today The new prepackaged eclair ...With custard cream filling. . And tried the Matcha dates paste filling , waffler cookie thing This item is very sole, and frankly tasted the most authenticatic for prepackaged snacks in the shop. You can taste the custom in this dessert snack, esp if you chew and savor it slowly ..You'll taste the flavor or the red dates mixed green from the matcha ...And thickened it's consistency to a jam, paste like filling.... The thing is an art...on its own.

Chicken Sandwich is unique! No bread - it's held together by rice and seaweed. Sauce had a sweet spiciness to it. Also aesthetically pleasing. Lunch was a deal - as with many other items (including ramen) - at $5. Ginger Lemon Tea was refreshing on a hot July 4th. Right off the 7 train. There's outdoor seating in the shade. Owners were very welcoming and accomodating to my no-pork diet. Will come here again!

Not exactly a fan of rice but I had determined to give these onigiris a try since I haven't had my monthly Japanese fix curbed. Went by on a Friday evening after a visit at the nearby hospital. We took our time checking out the display food in the store before we settled our eyes on the last beef sukiyaki sushi burger and later on picked up a kimchi pork onigiri upon much consideration. Ideally, both the beef sukiyaki sushi burger and kimchi pork onigiri were great. They def didn't skimp on the filling, the taste was on fleek. Just the way I like it. Like I said, I'm not a fan of rice but I'll def return to try out their matcha beverages in the future.

Nice and welcoming staff. It's a small place but good to eat alone or with a friend, the prices are fair for what you get and the vegetarian and vegan options where pretty tasty!

I like this place! It is nice to see a Japanese snack shop in my area! My friend and I was doing a mini area snack tour. We got the Matcha Lemonade and Avocado Shake with Black Sesame Ice-cream. I also got a Spicy Tuna Onigiri - it was in a heart shape, I had to! Matcha Lemonade was nice and refreshing, more lemony. Avocado Shake was pretty good as well, I did wish it had a bit more avocado in there. Spicy Tuna Onigiri was good! The rice was perfectly grainy and it had a generous amount of hot tuna. I also tried the Matcha Latte before. I thought it was really milky so I wasn't a big fan of it.

This place is a gem. Let's start off with the old man who makes all the good. He's the nicest man ever and makes sure that everything is to your liking. They have lunch specials where they have several items that are inexpensive by $1. Not bad bearing in mind most things are around $5 or $6. I ordered a curry chicken dish. Woof that thing packed a surprising punch, but it was tasty. My friend got a katsu dish that he said was moist, juicy, and fried to perfection. We also had one of their sushi rolls. $7 is more than I would normally pay for sushi, but it came with 8 pieces and was massive. The fish was very fresh. Finally, I had the sushi sandwiches. I tried both the chicken and pork ones. It was very good. The dipping sauces they come with make the dishes.

Cutest little spot around. So nice to grab a quick bite or sit and just have a coffee. Food was great. I really did not expect it to taste that good. The worker was so nice. I really love the atmosphere. Can't say anything bad about it.

As a chubby kid of the Japanese diaspora, food is very significant to me and connects me to home. In this essay I will...prove how 969 has the BEST JAPANESE COMFORT FOOD!!! I've been penetrating for a place that reminds me of homey food, and this place IS IT!!!! Oda-San, the owner, is a kind soul and we always chat in Japanese--he makes all of his customers always feel right at home. There's a wide selection of food (ramen, onigiri, yakisoba, etc) and café drinks (like lattes, the ***iced Hojicha*** is so refreshing). The ramen, yakisoba, and gyudon (beef bowl), is just like how my mom and I would make it at home, and is such simple, no-frills cheering comfort food. Shoutout to the SPAM MUSUBI, which is perfectly marinated in sweet soy sauce. That's always a crowd pleaser. The tuna onigiri is a bit on the sweeter side, but if that's not your vibe, the ***salmon onigiri*** is my personal fave. The sushi has GENEROUS amounts of fish, as you can see in my photo.

wonderful matcha and tea in Jackson Heights. I love the owner as well he's an awesome guy. The onigiri is delicious, I'm strong-minded to try them all. Super cute imported japanese treats and drinks as well. Love this place!

I came here a year ago and forgot to review it?!!! wtf! I loved it! The owner is Japanese and sooooo nice and friendly. He makes food for you on the spot and also has some in the show case all ready. I had the tonkatsu "sandwich" which had cheese and rice as the bread part -- how can you say no to cheese and rice. It was more like a big onigiri with a huge slab of meat. LOVED it. Don't expect a fancy Japanese cafe, it looks more like a regular deli, but go inside and be astonished by all the tasty treats!

This place has been in my bookmarks for ages, but it's quite a bit out of the way for me so I haven't been until now - although now that I know it's nearness to LGA, I'll be stopping by whenever I drop-off/pick-up friends and family from the airport!! All the items here are politely priced, and pretty cheap by NYC standards. However, it is really a toss-up as to which items are available at what time. We had eyed the menu prior to arriving and already had a few items in mind that we wanted to try, but items like the sushi came pre-made so any assortment that wasn't in the case was not available. The owner was nice enough to freshly deep fry corn croquettes for us, which was really appreciated.

Pros: - tasty variety of foods that's sensible priced (we got the pork katsu, inari, hand sushi wrap, and ice coffee - ample seating available - conveniently located off Roosevelt Ave between 74th St and 82nd St 7-train stations Cons: - tight seating preparations and could potentially be crowded during busy times - iced coffee was somewhat weak

Casual ambiance, good for a grab and go snack or drink. Seemed like everyone was typically ordering the onigiris only, but they also had a few ramen options. The owner is really friendly , but for myself, the food was mediocre. I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit it. We ordered: - Sukiyaki onigiri sandwich ($6) - good for a quick bite, but I wouldn't order it once more. There was a sweet marinated beef, egg, carrots, lettuce, cheese, rice and seaweed. The cheese and beef combo was a strange combo for me, and the lettuce and rice was really soggy from sitting on the show for too long. Depending on when you go, you may or may not end up with a freshly made onigiri.

Quality Japanese food, made fresh daily at an affordable price. What's not to love?! Their chicken, pork, vegan rice sandwiches are tasty and 7 dollars or less. My new favorite here. The onigiri is kindly filled with shrimp, fish and the meat of your choice! Dont forget to ask for their creamy hot sauce - perfect to top off every bite. The matcha or avocado shake is creamy and a perfect dessert. It comes with a generous scoop of ice cream! Black sesame + avocado shake is a great combo! They also sell a variety of Japanese snacks, onigiri, ramen and coffee drinks!

wonderful quality food located just near the 7 train! After hearing about this place from my friends, I had this bookmarked but I just never had the chance to go. I got a shrimp tempura, Oi Ocha Tea and a Tonkatsu ramen. The shrimp tempura was totally tasty. It was slightly sweet, and the rice was soft and slight glutinous but it wasn't mushy. I really liked how it was just big enough to make a complete meal with the ramen I got. The shop is quite small with just 4 tables and 4 (I think) window seats. There are also several chairs and tables outside near the front. The owner is also very nice. I noticed that most of the customers that walked in, was familiar with the owner. The owner greeted each person and made some small talk. This just shows how amazing this place is.

Love this place! I always have to get out of my way to come here but it's totally worth it. I can get anything here and it won't let down. Croquette is to die for. Sandwiches are great for weekday lunch. Would try ramen when I have time.

I adore this place! What a amazing little Japanese cafe tucked into an extremely diverse neighborhood. I tried the Shrimp Tempura, Smoked Salmon/Cream Cheese, and Beef Onigiri. All of these three were wonderful. They weren't anything special or bedecked per se, but it tasted wonderful. There's something homey and comforting about these onigiris! I could literally feel the care it was made with, maybe the heart shaped onigiris had something to do with that :) I will say the soy sauce seemed really salty to me and I used the low-sodium one. I would recommend no soy sauce or only use very carefully.

I love this freakin place I'll probably forever stop by when I come to NY. Inside Jackson heights and quiet small and quiet I think only one guy works here lol but he's super friendly and the onigiri, ramen, snacks, drinks and coffee are all cheap and tasty!!!!! I love it here definitely recommend if you enjoy Asian food/ramen/sushi

The kimchi pork onigiri was okay but the yuzu lemonade was p good. The guy that works there is also super nice and tries to make small talk. This cafe is a cool place to sit and waste time because there's a lot of outlets and the food is reasonably priced.

I really like this gem in Queens! Small but terrible. Haha. Great Japanese food like onigiri, sushi and ramen. If you just like snacks they have lots of Japanese snacks too! Me and my bf was looking for a place for breakfast and I found this spot! I was excited to try and it never dissapoint. It was located in the unforeseen area, it was in the Spanish area and I think its the only japanese spot in the area. We got the spicy tuna roll, tonkotsu ramen, spicy crab onigiri and pork cutlet sandwich. I advice not to go there just because you want to eat specific type of food like ramen or sushi. They have a little bit of everything but not so much choices. They have 2 types of ramen and I think 7 types of rolls but its good to get 1 type of everything so you'll be able to try different variety of food. Their food taste really good! The spicy crab is one of my favorite.

Love the sweet husband & wife duo! My husband always gets the chicken katsu curry while I like to get an array of dissimilar rice balls. My faves are: Beef teriyaki, oshinko, spicy crab. They have great Japanese snacks, drinks, and fresh sushi too!

It looks like a tiny deli, but imagine all in the deli is Japanese food. Imagine rows of japanese canned drinks and Pocky and all that sort of stuff you'd find at an asian grocery. The rice balls are sitting out in plastic containers, as food would in any cheap deli style place. Everyone's seen fast food/pick-up sushi in clear plastic at the grocery store, that is the feeling you get here. I just wanted to point this out because if you look at the movies on their website or from yelp users it makes this place out to be some posh tiny hipster restaurant. That being said, the onigiri here is the biggest onigiri I've ever seen anyone sell anywhere in Queens. I would go to a japanese market and get an onigiri out of the fast food fridge for $2 or $3 and it would be what you would expect. Here it is at least 1.5 to 2x larger than the standard and is still only $2.50. Anyway I got some food and it tasted pretty good. all is cheap.

The owner and operator has always been very pleasant and inviting, he develop good relationships with his regulars which keeps us coming back. Eating here has been pleasant with each experience, everything from their beverages to the ramen and sushi has been tasty :) The space is small so not much seating but it's never a nightmare to come in. The owner also makes items on request if they're not on the shelves. ^^ the pricing is decent too ~

bearing in mind how Latin this part of Jackson Heights is, 969 Coffee sort of sticks out like a sore thumb. How does a divey Japanese coffee blend in with the rest of neighborhood? It doesn't. And that's precisely why I don't just like it, I love it. Away from the insanity of Roosevelt, 969 is fun little casual spot where one can rock some coffee / caffeinated drinks and an array of Japanese snacks and comfort foods. They go hand in hand and serve as an ideal area destination for food on the go or an easy meet up. I really enjoy their iced matcha latte. It looks almost like the McShamrock but far tastier and super refreshing. Their matcha lemonade has some tart to it and is a fun drink to order during the warmer months. There is an array of the usual coffee drinks for the casual drinker: mochas, espressos, cappuccino and the like.
